Reflection: Taking things on faith isn't an easy proposition, at least not in our show-me-the-money society. "You have to see it to believe it, " we're told. "You're never going to believe this," we say. How would we have fared had we lived in the time and place of Jesus during his ministry? Would we have believed he was the Savior?

Meditation: If you had seen Jesus perform miraculous signs before your eyes, would you faith be deeper than it is now, or do you believe deeply and fervently, even without seeing? Do you often pray for a "sign" to shore up your faith? Are you missing smaller signs that remind you of God's presence all along life's way?

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we desperately want to believe without needing signs and wonders, but we are human and sometimes we stumble and doubt. Help our unbelief. Let us feel your presence in our lives, especially when we are faltering. Give us faith that never waivers.

Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly angels, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
