Reflection: Even if you forget the words to the prayers you have learned, you can still talk to God. Whether you say memorized words or no words at all, just that urge to pray moved you closer to God. Prayers feel like they should require words and yet prayer really requires only one thing - a willing heart. Yes, it's important to be able to go to God in prayer with the words that Jesus gave us, but it is also important to go to prayer with no words at all, to go only with the hope of hearing something, to listen not with our ears, but with our hearts.

Meditation: Do you put too many parameters on your prayer life? How often do you sit before God in silence and let the Spirit do the talking?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, guide us in prayer and speak to us in the silence. Help us to shut out the noise of the world so that we can hear the still, small voice of God above the sin. Give us a heart that listens and a spirit that seeks you through words, songs and silence.

Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly angels, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
