We come before you with a heavy heart and drooping spirit because of wounds to the Body of Christ caused by the sins of your priests.
We pray that these wounds will be diagnosed through the light of the truth: that the lies of Satan will be exposed and what he wishes to keep secret will be revealed, so that his deceits and designs will be thwarted, and he may not come back to bite us.
We pray for the justice that will bring proper cleansing of these infected wounds upon Christ’s Mystical Body, as stinging as this will be.
May humility help us to bear the pain of those wounds being cleansed.
We pray that these wounds to your Son’s Body, diagnosed and cleansed, may be healed properly – wounds such as fear and distrust that prevent your Church’s ministers from being effective instruments of your grace.
May we learn to forgive “so that we might not be taken advantage of by Satan, for we are not unaware of his purposes” (2 Corinthians 2:10-11).
May there be an end to the vicious cycle of wounding the members of Your Body.
We pray that your healing Body will be strengthened through the unity for which your Son prayed when He said, “that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you.”
We pray for unity with Christ as individuals, especially those who fall away from Christ because of the sins of the Church’s leaders and members; unity with and within Christ’s Body, the Church, especially with those who have broken away from the fulness of the faith; unity with one another, which the smallest of sins breaks down.
May Your Holy Spirit be the source of the light, the justice, the healing, and the unity we so need.
And may the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary allow our prayer to be offered continuously to You.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
